Slinger High School Hosts Blood Drive

Slinger High School is hosting a blood a drive today as tribute to a student who never got a chance to start his classes there.

The boy passed away from bone cancer in July.

It has been really busy since this event started paying tribute to Jose Rivera.

Rivera died from a form of bone cancer this summer.  

He had only been diagnosed in February.

That is how quickly the cancer move first affecting his leg then his shoulders, spine, hips a truly painful experience.

Jose's parents coordinated this blood drive with the blood centers of Wisconsin.

They said that he always kept and upbeat attitude and said that he hope to help sick people like him once he got better.

“This blood drive is one way he's motivated people to help the sick like he said he wanted to,” said Kelly Rivera, Jose’s mother.
