MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Sleepover for Education helps donate school supplies to Milwaukee Public Schools students each year.
This year, the need is for masks, hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes.
These items, along with school supplies, are being collected all week from Aug. 2-8, as part of this year's Annual Bronzeville Week Sleepover for Education, taking place virtually from Aug. 7-8.
We spoke with some of the people taking part in the festivities, about its importance.
"I'm asking people to donate, donate, donate," said Community organizer Tracey Dent. "We want to be proactive verses reactive."
If you'd like to donate, you can drop off your items at Police District 5 located at 2920 Vel R. Phillips Avenue, or at Pete's Fruit Market located at 2323 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
Bronzeville events run throughout the week, and many are online.
