Sledding incident near Oconomowoc High School leaves 1 person injured
OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- One person was injured after a sledding incident near Oconomowoc High School along Forest St. Sunday, Jan. 18.
The Oconomowoc Fire Department says the incident happened just before 1 p.m. after a person tried sledding down a hill near the softball field at Oconomowoc High School, but the hill had no runoff and led right into the softball field fence.
Emergency crews needed a rescue basket to get them off the hill. They were transported to a local hospital for moderate injuries according to the fire department.
The fire department says to avoid such incidents to please pay attention to the hills you choose for sledding. Make sure that they are free from obstacles and have proper runoffs.
Stay away from water while sledding and to use safety equipment such as helmets.
