WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- CBS 58 reached out from the owners of Skully's Halloween Express, and they confirmed that the giant pumpkin store will not be opening this year.

They said, "It is true. We are retiring after 30+ years in the Halloween business. It's been a good run."

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- As October approaches, a familiar sight is missing at Wisconsin State Fair Park. The giant pumpkin that has long marked the start of Skully’s Halloween Express has not been set up this year.

Organizers addressed the absence in a recent Facebook post. "Once upon a time there was a little boy who dreamed of a giant pumpkin," the post read.

The message mentioned that customers, employees and the community have supported that dream since 2005.

"Thank you everyone for the many dreams that have came true since."

Skully’s Halloween Express has been a seasonal attraction in West Allis for two decades. Its future has not yet been formally announced.
