Six Hour Standoff Takes Place in Port Washington

A six hour standoff occurred in Port Washington on Sunday night.

According to Post Washington Police, officers were called to the 900 block of W. Grand Avenue around 6:30 PM.

Original reports indicated the suspect was firing a handgun and shouting suicidal statements before retreating back into the home.

Officers arrived on the scene, secured the area, and notified those in the immediate vicinity to shelter-in-place.

According to Port Washington Police, the Ozaukee County SWAT team was requested to respond to the scene to assist.

After hours of attempted negotiations and no contact with the suspect, the SWAT team discharged rounds of pepper spray.

A 48-year-old male suspect was found in the home, suffering from the effects of the pepper spray.
