Authorities search for suspect after pursuit in Sheboygan County, shots fired by passenger at officers
SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect involved in a pursuit on Saturday, March. 2.
It happened around 11:22 p.m. near State Highway 32 and County Road FF.
The sheriff's office stopped a vehicle. During the investigation, the vehicle fled the scene and was pursued by officers.
The vehicle stopped a second time near County Road R and County Line Road. The passenger exited the car and discharged several rounds from a firearm at the officers.
The officers were not injured.
The passenger, a 25-year-old male, fled on foot. The operator in the vehicle fled the location of this stop.
Additional resourced were called, such as the Manitowoc Drone Teams. As the drone was approaching the area they believed the subject fled, they heard a distant gunshot. Officers investigated a heat signature identified by the drone team. They located the passenger from the traffic stop with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The subject was deceased, according to the sheriff's office.
Authorities say an investigation will be conducted regarding the incident, and that no law officers discharged their firearms during the incident.
The sheriff's office says they believe that Mario Renzall Dajaun Doyle JR, a 28-year-old male, is the operator of the vehicle. The suspect is still wanted in junction with the incident.
It is not believed the driver is in Sheboygan County. The Sheboygan County Sherrif's Office asks the public to call local law enforcement if anyone has information about the suspect's whereabouts. Authorities say the public should not attempt to approach Doyle as he should be considered dangerous.
