Every day we report on how opioid addiction is ruining families and taking people's lives.

We also report on how challenging it can be to get treatment.

There's a new treatment program opening for women in Shorewood and for some it will be free.

Shorewood House will offer 8 women 30 days of residential addiction treatment starting next at no cost if insurance won't cover the program.

Medications are not included.

This is all under the direction of Meta House, a non-profit that has focused on women and addiction since the 60's.

It's had to change with the times to address the new epidemic involving pain killers.

Christine Ullstrup is the  Vice President of Clinical Services.

She says Shorewood House will provide the same comprehensive treatment offered to all private-pay clients that focuses on treating the whole woman.

For the women selected, Shorewood House staff will provide comprehensive treatment including one-on-one group therapies, process groups, chemical dependency education, trauma counseling, art therapy and more. Here, women will have the opportunity to build their strengths, identify effective coping skills and address the root causes of their addiction.

The deadline to apply is February 18th.
