Sheboygan County Dive Team called after car lands in a pond

SHEBOYGAN -- Sheboygan police and fire departments are investigating the series of events that led to a car being found upside-down in a water retention pond early Thursday morning.

Police said a caller reported seeing the car in the pond in the 2900 block of Behrens Parkway at about 3 a.m. The Sheboygan County Dive Team responded, but found an empty vehicle at the scene.

The 49-year-old driver from Sheboygan was found by his family members a short time after the crash. Police said the man was driving eastbound on Behrens Parkway when he lost control of the car and landed in the retention pond, located in a business park.

Road conditions and alcohol may have been factors in the crash, which is still under investigation.

No word on if the driver suffered any injuries or how he got out of the car.
