SHARP Literacy partners with athletes at Carroll University to take Waukesha students shopping for the holiday

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- SHARP Literacy, Carroll University and Quad have partnered with Kohl’s to give 40 deserving students a holiday to remember.

Students at Whittier Elementary School in Waukesha who are enrolled in SHARP’s educational program will each receive a $200 shopping spree at their local Kohl’s on Tuesday, Dec. 21.

The Whittier students will shop with student-athletes, coaches and mascot Pio Pete from Carroll University to make the afternoon of holiday happiness even more special.

Since 2017, SHARP Literacy has been partnering with Carroll University Pioneers men’s basketball team on “Reading with the Pios,” a program in which Carroll student-athletes read with young learners in Waukesha-area elementary schools.

The 40 student shoppers selected represent Whittier’s hard working yet economically challenged student population. So that no one is left out of the fun, Kohl’s gift cards will be provided to the other 158 students at the school.
