Several injured after vehicle flees from police, later crashes near 17th and Mitchell
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- One person was arrested and several were injured following a crash near 17th and Mitchell.
It happened around 12:32 a.m. on Saturday.
Milwaukee Police noticed a red Dodge Avenger with a temporary plate driving at a high rate of speed and disregarding multiple traffic lights and signs near 6th and Becher.
Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens but the Dodge Avenger accelerated at a high rate of speed -- prompting a vehicle pursuit.
Officers then lost sight of the vehicle near 17th and Lapham and the pursuit was terminated.
A few minutes later, dispatch reported an accident near 17th and Mitchell. Officers arrived on scene and confirmed that the same Dodge Avenger from before crashed into a car and a building.
The driver of the car that was hit was taken to a local hospital.
Inside the Dodge Avenger were two occupants who were both injured as well.
The driver initially fled the scene but later returned and was arrested.
The investigation remains ongoing.
