Semi driver rescued from water-filled ditch in Ozaukee County

With the use of an inflatable rubber raft, members of the Belgium Fire Department preformed a water rescue of a driver whose semi-trailer truck plunged into a water filled ditch Wednesday evening.  The accident happened along south bound I-43 around Sandy Beach Road in the Town of Belgium, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office.  Around 5:20 PM Wednesday, a semi-trailer truck driven by a 48-year –old North Carolina man went off the freeway and crashed into a water filled ditch.  According to the Sheriff’s office, the driver apparently lost control of the truck due to slippery roads.   The driver was not injured in the crash.
