Same-sex couples heading to Chicago for court arguments

MILWAUKEE -- There are three events today as part of a marriage bus tour.  One stop will be right here on North Market Street in downtown Milwaukee.



Wisconsin Unites for Marriage says there are eight couples from Wisconsin who will head to Chicago Monday.  Those eight will be representing hundreds of others as the court starts to hear arguments surrounding Wisconsin's same-sex marriage ban.



Last week this same group delivered a petition to Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen asking him to stop fighting to keep the state's ban in place.



It's been a whirlwind couple of months for same-sex couples in Wisconsin.  Earlier this year, judge Barbara Crabb orginally declared the state's ban on same-sex marraige to be unconstutional -- sending couples to county courthouses across Wisconsin to be married.  One week later she put the ruling on hold, but in the meantime hundreds of couples got married.



The Milwaukee rally starts Monday at 12:30 followed by an event in Racine at 2, ultimately ending in Chicago Monday evening.
