Salvation Army Receives 40 More Golden Coins, Each Worth Over $1,000

An anonymous donor dropped off 40 gold coins in Manitowoc County on Friday for donation to the Salvation Army. These gold coins are each worth $1,130.

The Salvation Army in Manitowoc County was at only 50 percent of its Red Kettle Campaign goal for 2016 before the donation.

"This will save Christmas. Without this gift, we were only at 50% of our Red Kettle Campaign goal. This brings us to 87%; this gift is absolutely going to save Christmas," said Lt. Jeffrey Olson, Manitowoc Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army spoke to the friend of the anonymous donor and assured them that the donated coins will help out their cause tremendously.
