Salvation Army of Milwaukee County set to celebrate volunteers at appreciation luncheon

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County is set to present several recognition awards at its annual volunteer appreciation luncheon on Monday, May 1, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at Davians in Menomonee Falls.

Major Steve Woodard, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County, expressed gratitude for the volunteers in a press release announcing the luncheon, stating, “We are honored to recognize each of these extraordinary volunteers for their dedication in helping The Salvation Army. Selecting those to recognize every year is never easy, as the contributions made by each one of our volunteers are significant and valued.”

The organization also noted that in 2022, volunteers contributed over 9,000 hours combined to The Salvation Army's programs and services in Milwaukee County.

Award recipients include:

  • 2022 Doing the Most Good Awards: DaVita Kidney Care, Kathy Brugman, Michael Murphy, and John Kasdorf
  • 2022 Volunteer of the Year – Citadel Corps: Johnny Lovett Sr.
  • 2022 Volunteer of the Year – Cold Spring Corps: Mark Mustoe
  • 2022 Volunteer of the Year – Oak Creek Corps: Cecil Koester
  • 2022 Volunteer of the Year – West Corps: LeCrystal Griffin
  • 2022 Volunteer of the Year – Emergency Lodge: Nick Tomaro
  • 2022 Chaplain of the Year: Nicolas Harebo
  • 2022 Emergency Disaster Services: Richard Carravetta
  • 2022 Service Club of the Year: Franklin Lioness Club
  • 2022 Youth Group Bell Ringers of the Year: Germantown High School National Honor Society
  • 2022 Celebrity Bell Ringing Champions: Wisconsin Diamond Dancers
  • 2022 Chaplain/MPD Kettle Challenge Champions: MPD District #4
