Update: Student who wrote threat in women's bathroom stall at Salem Grade School identified

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department has identified the student who wrote a threatening message on a bathroom stall at Salem Grade School.

According to the Sheriff's Department, the student was released to their parents and the Salem School District will be following the Student Discipline Code of Conduct in addressing the incident.

The student is being referred to the Kenosha District Attorney's Office for a charge of Terrorist Threats.

"The Sheriff’s Department as well as Salem Grade School took these comments very seriously and acted upon them appropriately. Every step was and continues to be taken to ensure the safety of students and staff in our community," The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department said in a release.

The motive behind the threat still remains unclear.

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department says they do not believe a handwritten threat found at Salem Grade School to be credible. 

The Sheriff's Department says school administrators found the words "I will shoot up this school 5th Grade" written in a women's bathroom stall at the school. The school was then placed on lockdown around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. 

Deputies responded to the school and the surrounding area and worked with school officials to investigate. Around 11:30 a.m. the lockdown was lifted and students continued their normal routine. 

Sheriff's deputies remained at the school and will stay at the school until students have left for the day. 

Salem Grade School and the Sheriff's Department say at this time the incident is not being viewed as a credible threat. They say all threats or potential threats are taken very seriously to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Salem School is on lockdown as authorities investigate a threat found at the school. 

Parents were notified about the incident around 9:45 Wednesday morning. According to a letter sent to parents, authorities are trying to "determine the validation of a written threat" and that students are safe with their teachers.

The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department says deputies are inside the school investigating and more are in the area.
