Saint Kate's Spinach Salad receives national acclaim

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The University of Texas is in town for March Madness, and their coach isn't quite ready to leave Milwaukee, and not for the reason you might think.

"The most exciting thing is that we get to stay here," said Texas men's basketball head coach Chris Beard. "They got the best spinach salad. At our hotel, I was telling my daughters we got to stay here and get one more of these salads."

Coach Chris Beard was there raving about the salad at Saint Kate's Arts Hotel in downtown Milwaukee.

We caught up with Executive Chef Paul Funk to find out what makes the salad so special. And as it turns out, coach Beard himself wasn't the only architect of the salad.

"I was so happy he loved our salad, turns out he built his own salad from our pregame buffet, but the point is I think you start with quality ingredients you end up with a great salad," said Executive Chef Paul Funk.

Chef Paul invited all Milwaukeeans to come into Saint Kate's and try their spinach salad or do what the coach did -- make your own.
