Ryan Braun and David Stearns to Make Appearance at Drive Thru Food Drive

CBS 58 helps Milwaukee families in need this holiday season by teaming with Hunger Task Force and the Milwaukee Brewers for the fifth annual “Thanksgiving Drive Thru Food Drive,” today, Wednesday November 23, from 5:00 AM until 6:00 PM.

Ryan Braun will be making an appearance at the event around 7:30 AM and General Manager David Stearns will be there around 8:00 AM to greet donors and thank volunteers for their help.

Food donations can be dropped off drive-thru style in the Miller Park parking lot until 6:00 PM. CBS 58 will broadcast live from the event throughout the day and participants can meet some of their favorite CBS 58 newscasters. Each vehicle will receive a Brewers Bobblehead plus various hourly gifts from corporate sponsors. Several Brewers special guests will be on hand throughout the day to collect donations as well.

Last year’s event collected more than 102,000 pounds of food, and this year organizers hope to top that amount. Any type of food donation is appreciated, but Hunger Task Force representatives say there is a strong need for turkeys – and the first 300 people to donate frozen turkeys will receive the barking Hank the Dog Bobblehead. Donations of healthy foods low in sodium, fat, and added sugar; and nonperishable holiday staples like canned vegetables, gravy, brown rice and breakfast cereal are also encouraged.

“The Thanksgiving Drive Thru Food Drive has become a holiday tradition,” CBS 58 Vice President/General Manager Mark Strachota said. “CBS 58 viewers have been incredibly generous with their donations of food and cash and I’m confident they will come out in record numbers this year to help area families in need.”

“Brewers Community Foundation is honored to partner with Hunger Task Force and CBS 58 to feed those in need in our community,” said Brewers Community Foundation Executive Director Cecelia Gore. “We thank everyone for their donations and support.”

“We’re grateful to our friends at CBS 58 and Brewers Community Foundation for spending the day before Thanksgiving helping us collect donations from caring folks here in the community,” said Hunger Task Force Executive Director Sherrie Tussler. “The drive thru is a fun, convenient way to help support a local family before giving thanks with your own."
