MILWAUKEE, WIS (CBS 58) -- An independent Russian ballet company hopes to bring peace through each performance, including one in Milwaukee this weekend.
RBTheatre will perform Swan Lake at The Riverside Theater on March 5th.
CBS 58 spoke with Gulya Hartwick, a producer with the company who values working with a diverse cast.
"We have dancers from at least nine different countries. Languages don't matter, borders don't matter. Different cultures all mixed up together on stage. Especially now, that is so important."
It's an importance all cast members feel deeply about. Producers say the news about Russia invading Ukraine broke their hearts and changed everything.
"It's very important for all of us, the peace is important. Our shows became a message and a mission."
It's a mission they hope to share in Wisconsin and across the country.
"Right now, we are living proof of how different nations can come together on one stage and create something beautiful instead of destroying it."
RBTheatre will perform on Saturday, March 5th at the Riverside Theater. If you would like tickets to the show, click here.
