Rookie WR Montgomery makes debut at mini-camp

After the first day of mini-camp, Packers rookie wide receiver Ty Montgomery said he wants to contribute on both offense and special teams.

The third-round selection and All-American kick returner from Stanford talked to reporters Tuesday afternoon after making his first off-season appearance with Packers since rookie camp.

\"I don't want to make any promises but if my number is called, special teams or offense, I want to make an impact,\" Montgomery said.

Montgomery finished his coursework at Stanford, forcing him to miss most of the Packers' off-season training activities (OTAs). However, in his short time with the team, he has already made an impression on his coach,

\"He does some things very natural,\" Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said. \"He's really picked it up quick, especially for someone who hasn't been here.\"

Packers mini-camp runs until Thursday.
