Reports: Carlos Gomez was a Met, and then he wasn't

Multiple reports on Wednesday night indicate that the Milwaukee Brewers were preparing to trade outfielder Carlos Gomez to the New York Mets. However, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson told reporters in New York that the trade \"has not and will not happen.\" A number of outlets, including ESPN, were reporting a deal that would have sent Gomez to New York for pitcher Zack Wheeler and infielder Wilmer Flores. Gomez is batting .266 with eight homers and 43 RBI in 73 games for the Brewers this season. The non-waiver MLB trade deadline is on July 31.
