Reports: Buzz Williams leaves Marquette to take job at Virginia Tech

Several media reports state, and a source has confirmed to CBS Sports, that Buzz Williams is leaving Marquette to take the head coaching position at Virginia Tech.

Williams won 139 games in six seasons at Marquette, making five NCAA Tournaments, three Sweet Sixteens and an Elite Eight. The Golden Eagles did not make any postseason tournament this season.

The source tells CBS Sports that the breakup of the Big East, and the uncertainty of Marquette's currently-vacant athletic director position aided Willams' decision.

Virginia Tech's program has won just 22 games in the last two seasons. The Hokies have not made an NCAA Tournament since 2007, their only Tournament appearance since 1996.
