Report: Brewers hire Cubs instructor Johnson as pitching coach

The Brewers have reportedly filled an important spot in their coaching staff, hiring Cubs minor league pitching instructor Derek Johnson to be the Brewers pitching coach.

Johnson has spent the last three seasons with the Cubs after spending more than a decade as a pitching coach for college baseball powerhouse Vanderbilt University. At Vandy, Johnson helped develop David Price, the number one pick in the 2007 draft and current Toronto Blue Jays ace.

Johnson would replace Rick Kranitz, who has been hired by the Phillies to join their coaching staff.
