'Really darn good to be back': Fundraiser held Sunday for Brady Street icon injured in hit-and-run
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Hundreds of brightly colored raffle tickets covered the tables inside of Jack's American Pub on Sunday afternoon, as dozens piled inside of the popular Brady St. bar.
Many were there to show love and support for one man -- 41-year-old Quincy "Q" Alexander -- who was injured in a hit-and-run just before 2 a.m. on Monday, May 29.
Alexander, who is also affectionately referred to as a "Brady St. icon," also made an appearance, with friends both new and old coming over to welcome him to the party.
"[It's] really darn good to be back," Alexander told CBS 58's Ellie Nakamoto-White. "Makes me feel happy."
Besides the raffle and donating 20% of the pub's sales, Pizza Shuttle, where Alexander worked before the incident, sent over pizza.
All proceeds raised from the five-hour event go toward Alexander's medical bills, rehabilitation, and other basic needs.
"It means a lot to me," Alexander said. "Thank you to all my friends for putting this together for me."
Despite it being nearly three months exactly to when the incident occurred, the driver involved still has not been found.
Now Alexander is making it his mission to advocate for road safety.
“I hope they get caught and I hope they do time for what they did to me," Alexander said. “I wish people will slow down, drive cautiously, drive safe.”
If you have any information that could lead to the driver's arrest, Milwaukee police are asking you to contact them immediately.
