“Ready, set, go:” Waukesha North AP students build boats for end-of-the-year project

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) – Students at Waukesha North hit the pool Thursday morning, but it wasn’t for P.E. class.
AP Physics students built 30 boats solely out of cardboard and duct tape as an end-of-the-year project. On Thursday, they put their creations to the test.
To win, teams had to get at least one person across the entire pool in the boat. Some boats did well, while others did not.
The project gives students the chance to learn about buoyancy, design and engineering, while also having a lot of fun.
“To me it’s really a great holistic way to not only work on the content but also a lot of community building too,” Physics teacher Greta Voit said.
There are around 107 AP Physics students at the school.
