Racine Zoo's Hartmann's Mountain Zebra relocated to new home in Dallas

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Racine Zoo says they've transferred one of their residents, a 3-year-old Hartmann's Mountain Zebra named Malex, to a new home at the Dallas Zoo.

The zoo says in the wild, zebras form herds with one adult male and multiple females, along with their young. They say Malex is right around the age when he would be setting out to form a herd of his own.

Malex was born at the Racine Zoo on Dec. 24, 2020. On Jan. 18, 2024, the zoo says he began his new adventure, heading for warmer weather.

He's since arrived safely in Dallas and has been introduced into his new outdoor yards and new herd-mates.
