Racine Police Respond to Rescue Newborn

Racine Police Department responded to a home in the 3600 block of Princess Place regarding an infant that was outside, according to Racine Police release.

Upon officer's arrival around 3:15 AM on Tuesday, they located a newborn infant inside the residence. The child was transported to Wheaton Franciscan Medical Center.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 17-year-old mother gave birth to the child in her residence. The mother of the newborn stated that she was not aware she was pregnant and panicked when the child was born.

Both the mother and child were taken to Wheaton Franciscan Medical Center for aftercare.
