Racine police investigate possible child enticement incident

RACINE -- Racine police are searching for the man a 10-year-old girl says tried to get her inside of his van. The alleged child enticement took place around 7:00 a.m. as the child was walking to Roosevelt Elementary School.


According to police, the 10-year-old was walking to school on December 11th when a man pulled up in a van with its windows covered by sheets. The child told police the man exited his vehicle and asked her if she wanted a ride. The child screamed \"stranger\" and took off running. She looked back and saw the suspect get back in his van and flee the scene heading north on LaSalle St.


The 10-year-old girl ran into her friend and her father. She walked with them the rest of the way to school.


The suspect is described as a middle aged white with medium length gray hair and a scar on his cheek. The suspect's van is an older two tone purple conversion van with some windows covered by sheets. There was a possible partial phone number with the numbers 262 in black and white.
