Racine & Me: Racine Arts Council to host Artseed Showcase: Creativity in Bloom

RACINE, WI (CBS 58) -- Racine Arts Council will host its second “ArtSeed Showcase: Creativity in Bloom” event on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the UW-Parkside Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for the Arts & Humanities. EDUCATION: Starting at 1:00, two educational sessions will be offered, including “Creating with Canva” and “Making Social Media Matter.” Education sessions are included in the ticket price, and there are limited scholarships available. · Making Social Media Matter by Kelly Kruse, Carthage College Posting with Purpose: Creating content that drives results. · Creating with Canva Made Simple by Kaila Bingen, Universities of Wisconsin Design without the Degree: Practical strategies to design with confidence.

MAIN EVENT: 3:00 – 6:00 Performances, presentations, awards, hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, silent auction, networking and collaboration SHOWCASE PERFORMANCES: Three 2025 ArtSeed Grant recipients will perform - · Black Arts Council of Racine ArtSeed project: “Poetry in the Park” · Over Our Head Players ArtSeed project: “Salmon-a-Rama: the Sketch Comedy Puppet Musical that Your Children Won’t Understand” · Racine Symphony Orchestra ArtSeed project: “Violin Intensive” NOTE: Two of these recipients have already been completed their grant projects. However, Over Our Head Players opens their ArtSeed project, an original musical comedy, on May 8. Tickets for “Salmon-a-Rama: The Sketch Comedy Puppet Musical that Your Children Won’t Understand” are on sale now on their website, overourheadplayers.org. PRESENTATIONS: Eight 2025 ArtSeed Grant recipients will present information about their organizations and their ArtSeed projects: · Burlington Public Library with “Arts Pass” · Choral Arts Society with “Gospel Fusion” · Music & More with “Candlelight Concert” · Racine Art Museum with “Community Quilt Project” · Racine Concert Band with “Commissioning” · Sweatshop Movement with “StreetJamz 7” · Megan Sunday with Park High School with “Power of Paint Mural Initiative” Denise Zingg, Spectrum School of the Arts and Gallery with “Framing and Matting, a collaboration with Main Galleries” GALLERIES: The Galleries at UW-Parkside will be open and featuring the work of local artists: · “Doug DeVinny Retrospective" at the Mathis Gallery. · Works of Michael Newhall, Artist-in-Residence in Printmaking at the Foundation Gallery. The evening’s proceeds will support the Racine Arts Council (RAC) mission to advocate for and sustain the arts in Racine County and help fund the ArtSeed Grant Program, which has awarded over $135,000 to local artists and organizations.
