Racine & Me: Local Student Singer Shares Her Passion for Music

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) — For Elora Margaret Knudsen, music has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember.

According to her father, Elora's signature vibrato first appeared when she was just 3 years old, and she's been singing ever since. What started as a childhood love has grown into a passion that has led her to perform in jazz choir, show choir, classical choir, theater and orchestra as a percussionist.

Most recently, Elora showcased her talent in Racine's Got Talent, one of several competitions she has participated in over the years. She said she enjoys every opportunity to perform, especially for audiences hearing her sing for the very first time.

Beyond competitions, Elora credits the supportive community at Park High School with helping her grow as a performer. She said she's surrounded by incredibly talented classmates and feels fortunate to learn alongside them.

Music also runs in her family. Elora draws inspiration from her father, a talented musician, as well as her mother's family, which has a rich musical background. Those influences have inspired her to continue expanding her talents, including taking the next step into songwriting.

She already has her first guitar picked out and is excited to begin writing music of her own.

As she looks toward the future, Elora hopes her story encourages other young musicians to follow their dreams, embrace every opportunity to perform and never be afraid to share their voice.
