Racine & Me: Family Reunion Music Festival celebrates 15 years of music, community and giving back
RACINE, WI (CBS 58) -- Music, poetry, food and family fun will come together later this month as the Family Reunion Music Festival celebrates its 15th year in Racine.
Founder and Lead Organizer Nick Ramsey joined Racine & Me to preview the annual event, which takes place Saturday, June 27, from noon to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Park Pavilion, located at 6200 Northwestern Ave.
Admission is free, and organizers are encouraging attendees to bring non-perishable food donations for the Racine County Food Bank.
The festival was created to celebrate life, family and friendship while supporting local organizations that strengthen the community. This year's event will benefit the Racine Urban Garden Network and Family Power Music.
Guests can enjoy a full day of live entertainment, including performances from local musicians, poets and spoken-word artists. The lineup also features a community drum circle, family-friendly activities, yard games, a bounce house and the return of the popular watermelon eating contest.
Food vendors will offer a variety of options, including barbecue, tamales, vegan dishes, specialty sausages, fresh produce and more. Beverages will also be available throughout the day.
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a large 50/50 raffle and enter to win more than 40 raffle baskets. Raffle winners will be announced at 6 p.m.
Organizers say the festival's mission remains the same after 15 years: bringing people together through music, art, food and community while supporting causes that make a difference in Racine.
