Racine & Me: Downtown Racine hosting Candy Hop for families and Soup & Steins tasting event
RACINE, WI — Downtown Racine is gearing up for two upcoming events designed to bring families and food lovers alike into the heart of the city.
Kelly Kruse, Executive Director of the Downtown Racine Corporation, joined CBS 58 in studio to share details about the 6th Annual Candy Hop and Scavenger Hunt and the 2nd Annual Soup & Steins event, both happening this April.
First up is the Candy Hop and Scavenger Hunt, taking place Saturday, April 4 from noon to 2 p.m. Families are invited to explore downtown while collecting treats from more than 30 participating businesses.
Kids can pick up free candy bags and scavenger hunt maps at the Downtown Racine Corporation office at 425 Main Street, then follow the candy trail throughout downtown.
Participants who complete the candy-themed scavenger hunt can return their maps to the office by 4 p.m. for a chance to win one of three kids prize packs.
Kruse says the event is a fun way for families to experience downtown while supporting local businesses.
The following weekend, Downtown Racine will host a second event geared toward adults and food enthusiasts.
The 2nd Annual Soup & Steins: A Sampling of Brews & Stews takes place Saturday, April 11, featuring a self-guided tasting tour through downtown Racine.
Participants can sample 20 different soups and 20 craft beers at 20 walkable locations across the downtown area.
Soup options range from hearty classics like beef brisket stew, beef barley, and creamy chicken dumpling, to unique flavors including Moroccan lamb stew, Cajun chicken and rice, and Irish curry corn chowder.
Ticket holders will also receive a 12-ounce commemorative glass stein mug and a ticket for one full 12-ounce beer pour during the event.
Kruse says the event encourages visitors to explore Racine’s local restaurants and businesses at their own pace while enjoying a variety of food and drinks.
Parking for both events is available at the Lake Avenue Ramp, Civic Centre Ramp, and Shoop Ramp for $4 all day.
Tickets and additional information about Soup & Steins can be found through the Downtown Racine Corporation’s website.
