Racine & Me: Color Our World Summer Reading Program and more at Racine Public Library

RACINE, WI (CBS 58) -- There's a lot of fun happening this summer at the Racine Public Library! Nick Demske is the Executive Director of the library and joined us with the details of their upcoming programs.

On March 31, 2025, all Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) employees were placed on administrative leave, with access to their work systems blocked. This action puts crucial services at risk across the country—and especially here in Wisconsin. Federal law requires IMLS to provide support to public libraries, but that support is currently only guaranteed through September 2025. Libraries are crucial for education, digital resources, job support, and community connection. Help ensure their future by supporting continued funding. We invite anyone who benefits from Wisconsin’s libraries to write a postcard to join in the campaign supporting all 467 public libraries in Wisconsin. Look for postcards at the Racine Public Library’s service stations and Bookmobile, or at your nearest Wisconsin library, to send a message to your federal elected officials. Simply write about why your library is important to you, then drop your postcard in the box on our second-floor central desk. Please submit postcards by July 15. Learn more at MyWisconsinLibrary.org.
