Racine man arrested after allegedly beating 15-year-old with giraffe statue

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Racine man has been arrested after allegedly attacking a 15-year-old with a giraffe statue during a fight.

Brad Erby is facing charges of Disorderly Conduct and Physical Abuse of a Child.

According to the criminal complaint, Racine Police were called to the 900 block of College Street for a report of a fight.

Upon arrival, a teen was being evaluated by first responders.

Officers spoke with a woman who said she's the legal guardian of the victim. She said the victim was arguing with a sibling when Erby showed up and yelled for them to shut up.

Erby then allegedly began attacking the teen, hitting him in the head with closed fists, before hitting him over the head with a wooden giraffe statue.

That statue broke so Erby picked up another giraffe statue and attempted to hit the 15-year-old with it.

The victim said he was struck with the giraffe about 10 times. He had scratches to his face and complained of pain to his head and jaw.
