Local financial pro offers tips for sticking to a holiday budget
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Racine couple is continuing their annual Pride Month tradition.
Memo Fachino and Lance Mier light their home in the colors of the rainbow every June.
Fachino said the colorful display came about after the homeowner's association (HOA) ruled only American flags could be flown in the neighborhood.
Fachino and Mier moved their pride flag inside and got creative.
"We really wanted to do something for Pride," Fachino said.
They learned temporary flood lights were within the HOA's regulations and set them up to represent the pride flag.
"It was a little of like - malicious compliance," Fachino said.
Fachino and Mier made it an annual tradition after receiving support from neighbors and people online.
"We do like to do it for representation, for sure, as well. We know we're lucky to live somewhere where we're comfortable and feel supported by our neighbors and family," Mier said. "So, for people who aren't that lucky, we want to just be, you know, have it be a symbol that we're a welcoming place and we support people who might not be supported otherwise."
The lights are only up in June, but the couple decorates their yard throughout the year, including for Halloween and Christmas.
