Racine County OWI arrests up from last year

RACINE COUNTY (CBS 58) – The Racine County Sheriff’s office says it continues to take an aggressive stance toward keeping everyone safe out on the roads.

As of Friday, the department has made 325 OWI arrests in 2017, an increase from 288 in 2016. The sheriff’s office estimates all law enforcement agencies in the county will make a combined 750 OWI arrests in 2017.

Authorities say during the New Year’s Eve holiday weekend officers will be out looking for impaired drivers. The department is asking the public to be safe and smart throughout the holiday.
