'Race for the Hungry:' El Rey shoppers fill carts for local food pantry

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Two shopping carts raced through the aisles at El Rey food mart in Milwaukee Wednesday for North Shore Bank's Race for the Hungry, a fun event with a serious purpose.
The racers had a shopping list and the first one to collect everything on that list won a $100 gift card. Second place was a $50 gift card.
Meanwhile, all the food in the carts goes to the Milwaukee Christian Center Food Pantry.
"It's a lot of fun," said John Jones of the Milwaukee Christian Center. "Fortunately, I had some experienced help, some people who had done it before running interference and helping me."
Along with actually collecting food, the race is a way to promote the importance of making sure food pantries have enough for hungry families.
