Public Invited to Vote on Black History Month Artwork Made by Kids

The public is invited to vote on eight pieces of artwork made by local kids from the Boys and Girls Club.

To recognize Black History Month, the children were challenged to create a portrait of someone who has inspired them. Two finalists at today's event chose Malcolm X and former president, Barack Obama.

"Right here before me you see the future of Milwaukee. You see two young men who are trying very hard and obviously great artists so please get involved in our democracy," says Mayor Tom Barrett.

Three U.S. Cellular stores will have the artwork on display and you can vote for your favorite over the next three weeks. Mayor Tom Barrett and members of the Common Council cast their ballots Monday.
