A republican bill that would let the UW System punish students who disrupt free speech got its first public hearing in Madison today.
The measure calls for UW System officials to suspend or expel students who engage in disorderly conduct that interferes with the free expansion of others.
The measure would also require schools to let speakers onto campus even if they can't guarantee their safety.
