Project Homeless Connect to provide vital services during 1-day event in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Coalition on Housing and Homelessness, United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County and Marquette University are partnering to host Project Homeless Connect on Thursday, Oct. 19.
The event, focused on serving people experiencing homelessness, returns to in-person services for the first time since 2019. Mayor Cavalier Johnson and County Executive David Crowley will inaugurate the event with speeches at 9:45 a.m.
Project Homeless Connect provides a range of services including housing resources, dental and vision exams, meals and warm weather items. Almost 1,200 people participated in the last in-person event in Milwaukee, with roughly equal numbers of service users and volunteers.
Throughout the event, volunteers will help connect guests with various services and resources throughout the day, guide them to needed services and assist in logistical areas such as check-in and meal distribution.
Thursday's event at Marquette University's Alumni Memorial Student Union will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Meanwhile, Waukesha is also hosting a Project Homeless Connect on Sunday, Oct. 26 at Carroll University Campus Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
