MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The President of Milwaukee's Jewish Community Center was honored by the FBI on Wednesday.
The award was presented to Mark Shapiro for his response to the threats that were made against the center back in 2017.
The centers were shut down and Shapiro worked closely with the FBI and local law enforcement to make sure the people served by the center were safe.
"To be able to receive this honor on behalf of Milwaukee and every one of the people here, it's an amazing city that I've been a part of, my family has been here and to get to represent that is pretty powerful," said Mark Shapiro, President of the Jewish Community Center.
Jewish centers across the country were targeted with the threats last year. Mark Shapiro and leaders from some of those other places will be further honored at a national ceremony in Washington in April.
