Preparations underway for Milwaukee Irish Fest

MILWAUKEE-The Summerfest grounds along Milwaukee's lakefront hopping with activity as preparations were made for the throngs of people who will attend Milwaukee Irish Fest this Thursday through Sunday.

There's a concerted effort to present every type of Celtic culture you might encounter in the world and bring it all to one location.

For the first time, they're featuring a showcase of Scottish artists who are flying in special for the gathering.

\"Irish Fest is the largest celebration of all things Irish in the world!\" declared Executive Director Patrick Boyle. \"We have 4,000 volunteers who have been putting on this festival for 34 years.\"

Boyle said Irish Fest brings a real touch of Irish hospitality because of those volunteers and that's why it is so unique.

Thursday's opening at 5 p.m. is sure to be a grand one with the Grand Hooley.

A hooley is an Irish term for a gathering that combines music and camaraderie. Participants are asked to join in with performers.

Admission that opening night is $5 or free with a donation of school supplies.

Please be sure to visit CBS 58's Michele McCormack who will join the Trinity Academy of Irish Dance at the Aer Lingus stage 4:45 p.m. Saturday.
