Pregnant woman and child injured in Racine hit and run accident

Racine Police say that they have located the hit and run vehicle and identified the driver who hit a pregnant woman and her child. The  31-year-old woman and her three-year-old daughter are still recovering after being struck in the  hit and run accident. Racine police say that the 31-year-old woman was 38 weeks pregnant when she was hit by an SUV.

Police say the hit and run accident happened around 6:00 p.m. on November 4, 2014. The mother and child were crossing the street when an SUV turned left from Goold onto N. Main St. and hit both parent and child. Witnesses say the SUV briefly stopped before fleeing the scene of the accident.

The 31-year-old victim was transported to Wheaton Franciscan Medical Center where doctors performed an emergency C-Section. Both the mother and baby were seriously injured by the hit and run accident. The three-year-old child was thrown several feet by the SUV. Police say the toddler suffered minor injuries.

The hit and run vehicle is described as a late model gray SUV, possibly a Toyota Highlander. Police say that they are still investigating.
