MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police say a man was seriously Thursday night after leading officers on a pursuit that ended in a crash near 6th and Walnut.

The pursuit began around 9:25 p.m., according to authorities, when officers attempted to stop a reckless driver near 8th and Meinecke.

It ended when the driver lost control and collided with multiple trees at 6th and Walnut. 

Police say the impact caused the vehicle to rollover, and the suspect -- a 46-year-old man -- had to be extricated. 

He was taken to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. 

Officials say the suspect was arrested and criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County DA's Office.
