Police investigate death of nine-week-old infant

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating the death of a nine-week old boy. Police say the infant died inside a home on the 2400 block of N. 39th St. just before 7 a.m.

Family members say the infant's name is Dionte Stamps Jr. Police say the mother found Stamps unresponsive, and preliminary investigations show no signs of foul play or co-sleeping. 

Floyd Stamps Sr., Dionte's great grandfather, says, \"It's very heartbreaking...I'm trying to be strong about it because I'm the head of the family.\"

Stamps Sr. says the child and the two parents live with the mother's family. He tells us he'll miss seeing his first great grandchild. \"Oh man...it was so beautiful to hold him. He was so happy and smiled in the face. Just like a joy.\"

A cause of death is still being determined by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office.
