Police identify man accused of hitting pregnant woman with SUV

Racine police have identified the suspect in an election day hit and run as 69-year-old Dean Cepukenas of Wind Point, WI. Police believe he was driving the SUV that hit a pregnant Genie Webb and her daughter as they crossed the street around 6:00 p.m.

Witnesses say the SUV briefly stopped before fleeing the scene of the hit and run accident. 31-year-old Webb was transported to a hospital following this incident. Doctors performed an emergency C-Section on Webb.

\"He was born without a heart beat and he was not breathing,\" Genie Webb's Mother Tracy explained, \"So they had to work on him, he needed a transfusion, but he pulled through.\"

Both Genie and her son are home from the hospital. Tracy says the family is making a steady physical recovery. \"Physically they're getting better,\" said Tracy, \"They'll be mentally scarred from this for quite a while.\"

Cepukenas is charged with two counts of Hit and Run causing Great Bodily Injury, and one count of Hit and Run Causing Injury. Cepukenas is scheduled to appear in court on November 13, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.
