Police Have News GPS Unit to Track Suspects

Police now have a new way to track criminals who are driving away. It's called StarChase.

Police says it's a safer way to track criminals. StarChase uses a launcher to put a tracker onto a suspect's car. The tracker then sends a GPS signal back to a computer that police officers can log into.

They hope to have most of the patrol force have trained on the technology and say it will help with carjackings. So far Milwaukee has already had 139 carjackings this year.

However the police say the tracker only works in a little more than 50% of cases. They didn't have any figures available on how much each device costs.
