Police Confirm Taxi Cab Robbery and Home Invasion Are Connected

Milwaukee Police have confirmed to CBS 58 the suspect involved in the home invasion on December 8 is the same suspect in the armed taxi robbery.

The home invasion started around midnight and ended around 5:00 AM on December 8. Officials taped off a three block area around a home at 76th and Townsend on the city's north side.

Road blocks were removed and tactical teams left the scene around 5:00 AM Tuesday.

The suspect held a 41-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman inside the home against their will.  Negotiators arrived at the scene and the suspect continued to threaten to shoot police and the people inside the home. After about 90 minutes, the suspect shot and killed himself.

MPD confirmed Friday evening that this is the same man who held up a taxi cab driver on December 6. The armed robbery and shooting happened around 11:25 PM in the 4500 block of North 84th Street. The victim, a 64-year-old taxi driver, was shot after two suspects robbed him of money. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.
