Police, Church Give Gift Cards To People For Turning In Guns

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago police and the Uptown Baptist Church collaborated on an event to encourage people to turn in their guns in exchange for gift cards.

Police officers and church personnel and volunteers participated in the event Saturday morning at the church north of Wrigley Field.

People who turned in their guns received a $100 gift card for every firearm they relinquished. A $10 gift card was given for replica firearms and air guns.

Those who turned in guns were not questioned about the firearms.
