LINN, Wis. (CBS 58) --- A 66-year-old Illinois man is dead after two boats collided on Geneva Lake in the town of Linn on Saturday, Oct. 16.
Officials say Geneva Lake police were informed of two boats that collided and one person was critically injured with CPR in progress on Geneva Lake around 7 a.m. The boats involved in the crash went directly to a private pier on Basswood Drive.
Officials say it happened in the middle area of the lake, east of Cedar Point. A Sylvan was southbound heading out of Williams Bay with three people on board. Officials say a Skeeter was westbound coming from the area of Black Point with two people on board. The Skeeter struck the Sylvan in a T-bone manner on the port.
The 66-year-old Illinois man who was seated on the deck in the Sylvan facing backward was struck during the crash.
Officials say lifesaving efforts were attempted, but the man died from his injuries.
The other two adult men were transported to Mercy Walworth for their injuries.
The two adult men in the Skeeter were not injured.
Officials say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
