Police: 37-year-old man drowns in Fond du Lac River

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Police say a 37-year-old Fond du Lac man drowned in the Fond du Lac River Thursday, June 18.

Authorities responded to a call of a man attempting to cross the river near the Johnson Street Bridge around 5:48 p.m. 

The caller said the man had been swept under the water. 

Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue along with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department dive team began a search, with the assistance of an aerial drone. 

After about an hour, the man was located further down the river and transported to St. Agnes Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. 

The incident remains under investigation.
